Shut Up is a kinetic sound installation consisting of three suspended loudspeakers moving vertically above acoustic foam. Each loudspeaker follows its own fixed movement cycle and plays a stable high-frequency tone. Although the sound itself remains relatively simple, the physical relationships between the three speakers, the surrounding space, the acoustic foam and the listener are constantly changing.

The work treats sound not only as something played from a loudspeaker, but as a physical event shaped by movement, distance, material and spatial position. I am interested in the idea that sound can be controlled not only electronically, but also through physical conditions. The acoustic foam is important in this relationship: it appears soft and protective, yet its function is to absorb, reduce and control sound. Through this contrast, the work explores the relationship between protection and restriction, movement and control, sound and silence. The title Shut Up refers both to the act of silencing sound and to the wider idea of control.
