2025

Nature Choir 2025 is a computational sound-performance project that explores non-anthropocentric modes of perception. Rather than treating environmental data as representational material, the work approaches weather parameters as active nonhuman agents capable of shaping sound, rhythm, and bodily presence.

In the first scene, Forest, meteorological data collected from Open-Meteo (1–7 November 2025)—including air temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed—are transformed into three sonic layers. The A-track merges these parameters into a single data-driven waveform, preserving the morphology of environmental fluctuation. The B-track translates this inaudible waveform into the human-hearable range through amplitude modulation, functioning as a performative score in which the human voice acts as a resonator for nonhuman rhythms. The C-track derives its pitch contour entirely from wind-speed data, generating a continuous melodic line shaped by the movement of air.

These sonic layers are reactivated in physical sites such as forests, coastlines, plains, and ruins. The locations do not represent the origin of the data; instead, they function as resonance environments where human bodies encounter nonhuman temporalities. The performer—nude and painted white—appears as a neutral, de-individualised body, existing solely as a medium through which voice, data, and environment interact.

Nature Choir 2025 proposes listening as a relational, posthuman practice—one in which perception emerges through the interplay of natural forces, computational systems, and the human body.
